The Christmas Wish

The week before Christmas there was a young girl who was going to write her Christmas list.  At the top of her list she put that she wanted her Dad who was in the war.  He had been reported missing in action.  She missed him very much.  He was very important to her.

Then she also wrote that she wanted a dog.  She had a dog before but he ran away after 3 months of having him.  Then her Mum came up and saw the list.  She read it and said, “Don’t you want anything else like a bike or something?”   “No Mum! I only want Dad back and I miss Buddy so much!”  Buddy was a Cocker Spaniel.

A week later, on Christmas Eve,  Holly and her Mother went to church and were praying for her Dad.  “Please come back Dad, please!” she whispered.

Next Day, on Christmas Day, Holly went down to the living room and opened her presents.  She saw a card that looked interesting.  She opened it and read it.  It said:

Dear Mrs. Walker,

I am proud to say that your Husband has been found.  He is injured but still in one piece.

Thank you.

She then got another letter asking whether she wanted to go to the kennels.  She said “This is the best Christmas ever!”
