Parent Council Newsletter
January 2012

It was a very busy first term and we would like to update you on the various activities which took place before Christmas as well as provide information about upcoming events and, as ever, invite you to get involved!

Firstly, a very big thank you to all the staff, parents, grandparents and pupils who helped organise and run the Christmas Bazaar which was held at the beginning of December. It was a great success with various craft activities and games for the children in addition to the usual toy sale and cake stall. The event raised ₤1500 towards the Parent Council funds. Thank you also to everyone involved in producing Our Calendar 2012 which was the Christmas fundraiser this year. It has proven very popular as it contains key school dates as well as artwork from each pupil. So far we have raised ₤450 from sales of the calendar and if you missed buying one, we would like to offer you one last opportunity. The original selling price was ₤6 per calendar but in the spirit of January sales, we are offering the last few for ₤5 each. If you would like to purchase one (or more) please  download the printable copy and return it to school as soon as possible.

The improvement of the school boundary with the park has been started with the installation of the gate. The hedge planting, unfortunately, had to be postponed due to adverse weather and shortage of volunteers but is planned for this term so please let us or the school know if you are able to help.

To assist with everyone’s post Christmas clear out, there is a Bags-2-School event next week. The bags for filling were distributed this week but feel free to fill any suitable bag with re-usable clothing, bedding, soft toys, paired shoes, hats, belts and handbags. We will then receive payment based on the total weight collected. Bags can be taken to the school reception from Monday next week for collection by the company on Friday 20th January 9am.

The next Parent Council meeting will be held on Wednesday 25th January at 7pm in Roslin Kirk Hall. The agenda will be available here next week . If you would like to raise any concerns, make any suggestions or volunteer to help, please email us at roslinprimary.parentcouncil@gmail.com , speak to one of us in person or come along to the meeting.

Finally, thank you to all for your continued support for our fund raising events.
