Stranded on an Island

I wake up and open my eyes, my vision is blurred, I see green and yellow blurs, I rub my eyes as I try to see.

After a while my vision clears.  The salty water has made my eyes sting and my legs are numb.  The smell of seaweed is overwhelming and the sounds of the birds echo from the trees.  I look around.  To my left there is an abandoned Tiki bar and to my right is a rainforest.   I can feel the filthy water flow over my feet and the warm wind brush through my hair.

I start to get up on my hands and knees.  I can’t feel my arms and the sand is getting in my cuts but I ignore it.  There is a muddy path leading into the forest.  I climb to my feet and follow the path.  Night is falling and I need shelter.  My head is throbbing as I sit against a tree.

I try to fall asleep but the wind is blowing and shadows lurk in the dark.  There are monkeys screeching.  I look to my left and close my eyes tight.  Soon I drift off to sleep despite the noise and the cold nippy wind……
