Olympic Legacy Visit

Dear Parent/Carer

Olympic Legacy

Roslin Primary School is delighted to be hosting a fun fitness event on Friday 11th November. The event has been organised in partnership with Sports for Schools and will see an athlete who has represented Great Britain at World Championship and Olympic level come to the school along with a Sportivator.

The Sportivator will lead a fun fitness circuit, while the athlete who comes along takes part and mixes with the pupils. After each class has had their turn doing the fitness circuit there will be a short assembly. The assembly will be led by the athlete who will talk about their individual career and the lessons of hard work and resilience that they have learnt; they may even give a sporting demonstration. All children will also have the opportunity to ask the athlete questions during the assembly.  This is part of our Olympic legacy where we want to continue the positive and inspirational messages from the Olympic Games.  This connects very well with the Visible Learning culture we strive for at Roslin.

Part of this will be a sponsorship event where children will have the opportunity to raise funds for 2 things:  school sports equipment and supporting GB athletes.  This is NOT a requirement and is optional for each family. We will issue one form per family but if you would like individual forms for each child, please ask at the school office.

We feel the children will look forward to this event and be inspired.

On this day children should bring to school their normal PE kit of trainers, shorts and tee shirt.
