First Minister’s Reading Challenge

Nicola Sturgeon has launched the First Minister’s Reading Challenge for children in P4-7 across Scotland. The aim of the challenge is to build on work already taking place in school to encourage children to read widely, explore a range of books and develop a love for reading. The challenge runs until 3 May 2017.

Your child has been issued with a Reading Passport and can use that to record the books they read throughout the challenge. By visiting the Challenge website https://www.readingchallenge.scot you will find information for parents, suggested books to read and challenges your child could set for themselves.

Whilst this is an optional challenge, we would encourage your child to take part as reading is an important life skill and has a huge impact on other areas of learning. We will be having Challenge

Check-Ins throughout the year, where your child can share what they’ve been reading and show us

their Reading Passport.
